This set of resources includes 1x PPT and 2x word files and can be delivered over 2-3 lessons. Learners are introduced to key concepts in organisational structures such as span of control and chain of command in engaging ways i.e chinese whispers to demonstrate the negatives of a long chain of command. We look at the pros and cons of tall, flat and matrix structures, then we move on onto centralised and decentralised structures. A short case study based on cartoon characters who have switched to decentralised - a few questions to contextualize the knowledge.
Students have the opportunity to learn about the supermarket industry, in particular Morrisons struggle with the budget supermarkets which led to restructuring - a 12 mark question with structure guidance and a detailed model answer to help students with peer assessments, as well as making improvements to WWW and EBI.
To spice it up a bit, a group matching task, where students have to create an organisational structure - answer sheet provided so teacher can look around whilst students work on it.

This double lesson introduces learners to the world of globalisation. We start by looking at what globalisation is, with examples of the UKs trade with other countries. We look at causes of globalisation such as containerisation and others. Students research the impacts of globalisation on countries, governments, consumers, producers and the environment before filling in any gaps in knowlege on the following slides. We also look at some video case studies of Nike and Apple to better understand the pros and cons of globaslisation. A box plenary to finish with.

This double lesson introduces learners to the concept of specialisation with an emphasis on comparative advantage. We start by looking at what specialisation is with examples of what some countries specialise in. We then look at a basic example of two countries producing two goods to really break down the concept of absolute and comparative advantage in an engaging way. We then look at this could be illustrated on a diagram. Some short answer exam questions for consolidation. We then look at the assumptions this model makes before having a break. We then look at a case study on Brazil, an exam style question with a model answer to peer assess using the marking grid. We finish off with a box plenary.

This double lesson introduces learners to the role of financial markets. We start by discussing what money is and the role of money before looking at what a financial market is, with examples of the role they play. Video case studies to give context to the role of financial institutions. We then look at the different types of financial markets such as money, capital and currency markets before understanding bonds in more detail. Some true or false questions, 15 mark case study question with indicative points and a peer assessment grid for students to use. We finish with a box plenary.

This set of resources includes 3x PPTs which can be delivered over 4 lessons (over 100 slides of engaging and interactive learning) and 5x word files consisting of calculation practice questions and a group ratio analysis activity.
We start by looking at how financial statements can help stakeholders make decisions before going into the four categories of ratio analysis (profitability, liquidity, gearing and efficiency ratios).
In the first double lesson we focus on profitability and liquidity ratios. ROCE is looked at with broken down examples before recapping the GP and NP margin from Year 1 (so ALL ratios are covered). We then look at the current ratio and although the acid test ratio is not required in the AQA spec, students do have the opportunity to understand it here as it can help with evaluation arguments e.g. stock is not a very liquid asset all the time.
In the third lesson we focus on gearing, again with broken downe examples and the interpretation of the figures, finally in the last lesson we focus on efficiency ratios of payables days, receivables days and inventory turnover.
Lots of calculation practice in this bundle, two companies, JD and Royal Mail where students have the opportunity to carry out ratio analysis, research tasks, true or false questions, debates, kahoot quizzes and box plenaries included. Students will come out as ratio experts!

This set of resources (1x PPT and 8x word docs) can be delivered over 3-4 lessons and introduces learners to the importance of business planning with an emphasis on cash flow forecasting. We start by looking at what’s included in a business plan and the purpose of creating one, a group matching cards activity to consolidate the contents of the business plan.
We then go on to looking at the importance of a positive cash flow, and how to construct a cash flow forecast from scratch step by step (although this isn’t required it helps understand the topic well). Students then go on to consolidate this by creating a cash flow forecast for Ian Beale’s fish and chip shop, some further calculation practice followed.
This is followed by 2 x 12 mark questions, one on business planning and one on cash flow forecasting based on Ian Beale’s forecast. Both comes with structure guidance and concise model answers for students to peer assess with. Two links to kahoot quizzes on the topic and a box plenary to finish with.

The second part to economic influences introduces learners to the stages in the business cycle and how each affects businesses and consumers, we also look at different types of tax and their implcications. Finally we look at exchange rates and their impacts. Two guided research tasks, a link to a kahoot quiz and box plenary to finish off with.

This lesson introduces learners to the competitive environment in which businesses operate in, we start by looking at a list of different markets/industries, to gain an insight to the different levels of competitiveness in each. We also look at factors that determine the competitiveness of a business before identifying ways a business can compete.
Students have the opportunity to learn about the gaming market with a case study and exam style question, balancing the benefits and costs of operating in a large, competitive market like gaming. Structure guidance and model answer provided for students to look at before peer assessing and making improvements.

This lesson introduces learners to the factors which have led to a more connected world economy. We start by looking at the the great depression to understand the protectionism that eventually failed the world, and the process of trade liberalisation which picked it back up.
We briefly look at free trade and the EU (as this is another lesson in the spec), then look at the various factors that have increased trade such as reduced cost of transport/containersation. This lesson introduces learners to the stages in the recruitment process, a 3 mark question with a model answer to self assess. An activity to create a job description and person specification. Excellent videos of Lord Sugar asking interview questions which can be asked to the class and then paused to get feedback, then hear answers from Lord Sugar. A 6 mark Discuss question with model answer to help students self assess.
In the lesson, students get to carry out a practical interview, students are given roles of interviewer, interviewee and scribe. Interviewer is given sheets to help guide with questions to ask, the interviewees are given different roles for which they are applying to such as an Apple Genius working at Apple.

This double lesson introduces learners to the importance of cash for the survival of a business, inflows and outflows are discussed, students seperate inflows from outflows, then they go on to complete a cash flow forecast step by step with guidance on the powerpoint. Formulas are given to help work out net cash flow, opening and closing balance. Students then go on to consolidate this by creating a cash flow forecast for Ian Beale’s fish and chip shop, some further calculation practice followed.
